Description

F-tune Gen2 forged connecting rods – six IA-beam rods on the bench. The natural evolution of our well known Gen1 I-beam rod, stronger in every direction not because it had to be but because technology moves forward and development must follow. These rods look as good as they perform and they are available in more versions than ever before.

The IA-Beam

The Gen1 I-beam connecting rod established the standard for the OM diesel platform. The Gen2 IA-beam builds on that foundation with a refined profile that improves strength in every loading direction. The I-beam is already one of the strongest connecting rod profiles available for high tensile applications. The IA-beam takes that geometry further – stiffer, stronger and better able to handle the combination of tensile, compressive and bending loads that a connecting rod experiences at high RPM and high boost pressure.

This is not a solution to a problem. The Gen1 rod had no significant weakness. This is development for its own sake – because standing still is not an option and because our customers deserve the best available version of every product we make.

The Range

Gen2 F-tune forged connecting rods are available for a wider range of applications than any previous generation.

For the Mercedes OM diesel family we cover the full OM601 through OM606 range in naturally aspirated, turbo and stroker specifications. The naturally aspirated versions deserve particular attention – the NA OM60x engines are outstanding motors with one known weak point in the original connecting rod. Fit F-tune forged rods to a NA block and the bottom end becomes as strong as any turbo block build. The playing field is levelled completely.

For the CDI family we cover the OM611, OM612, OM613, OM646, OM647 and OM648 – the common rail diesel engines that followed the mechanical injection era and that are increasingly being pushed beyond their factory power ratings in performance applications.

Beyond the Mercedes family we produce rods for the Toyota 2JZ, Volkswagen VR5, and Volkswagen and Audi 07K engines. And for applications that fall outside any standard range we produce connecting rods for special applications on request. If your engine is not on the list, get in touch.
